Students will create multimedia features and packages, and will experiment with standalone and complementary stories. In this class, students analyze and assemble dramatic scenes under a variety of conditions and narrative strategies. Editing theories, techniques and procedures, issues of continuity, effects, movement and sound are examined as they relate to the fundamentals of cinematic montage and visual storytelling. This class presents a variety of topics and experiences that are designed to broaden the student's understanding of the art of cinematic storytelling and montage. By the end of the course, students will know how to use Adobe Premiere Pro (CC) to edit their own videos. They will know the software well enough to apply similar techniques and concepts to other Non-Linear Editing systems. The course will also teach students the important role editing plays in telling a story visually as well as broaden their ability to edit their own projects inside and outside of school.
