Description
This Aircraft Dispatch minor prepares students to take the written, oral and practical exams leading to the issuance of an aircraft dispatch license. An aircraft dispatcher plans for, coordinates and disseminates information concerning daily flight schedules, while establishing and maintaining rapport with flight crews, pilots, passengers, ground handlers and customers.
Admission Requirements
Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Pass the written, oral and practical exams to earn the aircraft dispatch license.
- Demonstrate operational knowledge of domestic air travel, including industry and governmental agencies, airport identifiers, scheduling protocol, flight planning procedures and the application of weather theory to develop the skills of a professional dispatcher.
- Exemplify a high standard of ethical and professional behavior.

- Minimum 6 credit hours in the minor must be upper-division coursework (30000 and 40000 level).
